Meet some of our Musicians
World-renowned violinist and teacher, Moshe Hammer, is admired for his artistic style, unique interpretations and vibrant tone. He has traveled the world enthralling audiences as a soloist and as a chamber-musician.
Born in the ruins of Budapest, Hungary after World War II, Moshe and his family traveled to the new country of Israel as refugees. There, as Israel was struggling to build itself in a troubled region of the world, young Moshe established himself as an award-winning violinist.
Moshe has studied with Ilona Feher at the University of Tel-Aviv’s Rubin Academy of Music and the Julliard School in New York. He was privileged to take part in special classes with Jascha Heifetz in Los Angeles and Yehudi Menuhin in London. |

Mendy Bisk was born in Toronto and raised in Yiddish speaking home. He was introduced to piano at the age of seven and was enrolled in the Royal Conservatory of Music at fifteen where he studied classical piano, he would go on to graduate from the RCM with First class honors at the age of twenty one.
Over the years Mendy has performed in many halls including Windsor Arms Hotel and the great Marina Rosha amphitheater in Moscow.
Mendy is a member of several ensembles including the York Concert Choir, he is the pianist in the York klezmer Orchestra, and is involved in several ensembles in different styles from jazz to Chinese classical music.
Mendy has competed and won several prestigious piano competitions including Kiwanis Music Festival in which he came third place at the provincial finals.
He has performed at countless events from corporate and fundraising events to weddings and Bar Mitzvahs.
Mendy has performed with many respected artists including violinist Dan David and singer Eli Yakubov. Mendy is an avid Yiddishist having studied Yiddish at UofT with the legendary Kalman Weiser. Mendy is very passionate about the revival of Yiddish music and culture, he often performs Yiddish music at Chartwell Retirement Residences where he is always treated like a star.
Mendy is currently studying music at York University. Mendy is also fluent in Hebrew and Russian and is well versed in Israeli folk music |
